Lazy-ish start today. Ferry not until lunchtime. Quick visit to the beach again. Didn't dip my tyres in the sea, but good to get sand between my treads.
Very big ferry to Kristiansand. Left Denmark in the hot sunshine. Smooth and quick crossing.
Dumped into Kristiansand at busy time. Manic. To add to it, as we left the port it started to bucket it down.
Headed north on route 9. I struggled up the hills with my higher gearing, Henry scampered off into the distance. Rain eased off as we climbed higher, and it appears we had missed the worst of it. Roads soon emptied and we generally had the way to ourselves.
Norway does not disappoint scenery wise. So far it it's a cross between the Alps, and the lake district.
First night camping, and good choice. All good clean facilities.
We drew up wild West style - waggons in a circle, with shelter and cooking stuff in the centre. No real threat expected so tents were pitched outside the circle.
Some food, some music, some maintenance and some wine completed the day off very nicely.
Waterfalls tumbling down from the snow-capped mountainsides all around us to lull us off to sleep.
Midge annoyance level: 3.
Hopefully there is no need to break out your other table of discomfort ratings. Really enjoying the blog.Cheers Stuart
