Others had an early breakfast in the sports hotel, where they were presented with 12 different types of muesli. Including ' sports muesli' Clearly 12 is not enough choice as we watched the sporty people create their own blends from the 12.
(Interestingly and coincidentally, 'muesli gets auto corrected to 'misery' on my phone.)
Took the train into Oslo. Had a look around the fortress, and watched a huge cruise ship come in and dock right alongside the old walls. Cannons on the wall would have taken out the ballroom and possibly the breakfast buffet, but given the numbers on board the survivors would still have overrun the town.
Spent a couple of hours in the resistance museum, which was all about the underground resistance, and covert operations in Norway during t he German occupation in ww2. Lots of ingesting stuff.
Then took a ferry to the Viking ship museum. Three ships, two largely intact, the other little more than a few planks. Plus their associated finds. All from around about 900AD. Much larger than expected, and the quality of workmanship of the ships and the decoration/carving was amazing.
Massive thunderstorm struck at about 3. huge amounts of water fell from the sky, and continued to fall until well into the evening.
Back at the hotel it must've fallen as snow as there were still piles of it on the ground and roofs.
Also back at the hotel we discovered the whole sports thing is a sham. Takeaway pizza boxes were strewn about the place. Food of champions.
